MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...
The Series 3 E-Type was introduced in 1971. To ensure the E-Type continued to appeal to the US-market (Jaguar’s biggest buyer), the wheelbase was lengthened, power steering was added as well as Jaguar’s brand new roadgoing V12 engine. These changes made the E-Type a much more comfortable and capable grand tourer. To keep the E-Type in tune with 1970s design, flared wheel arches were added and a redesigned enclosed grille as well as other, more subtle changes.
This highly original UK-Supplied 1974 V12 OTS has had only 3 previous owners with a very large history file including the original Jaguar handbooks supplied in the original tan wallet. Benefiting from long continuous ownerships from a hand full of enthusiast custodians, the E-type has been treated to a large amount of both mechanical and cosmetic work across the years, which includes bodywork and respray, and a full engine rebuild. Both coming to a total of more than 24,000 Euros, which at the time the E-type resided in France.
Finished in its original colour of Old English White with a totally original Black interior including fantastic patinated leather seats, original carpets and radio. The car is full matching numbers example and we believe to be original low mileage of 65,200 to be correct due to the condition of the untouched interior and other parts as well as the large history file.
Delivered new to Beck Kindergarten Ltd, Beckenham, Kent, the car was owned by them for just a year before being sold to Russell Byron Tant of Luton who owned the car from 1975 all the way to 2008 when it was purchased by a previous owner in a non-running state. The car then moved to France in order for the owner to work there for a number years, all recommissioning work was carried out in France including bodywork, full engine rebuild and mechanical check over with replacement of any worn parts. Since then the car has been maintained accordingly with all necessary work being carried out.
Therefore today the car is presented in fantastic mechanical order with a beautiful original interior and bodywork. In a world of fully restored classic cars, a factory original E-Type is a rarity and should definitely be appreciated. The car has a great amount of torque, the 3-speed automatic gearbox shifts well and is the perfect partner for the silky-smooth V12.
