What a year for E-Type UK

As 2018 draws to a close it is an opportunity to reflect on what has been an extremely busy year for E-Type UK and of course our sister company DM Historics.

Our full throttle start to show scene began with trips to Scotsdale Arizona, Paris Rètromobile, Amelia Island Concours and Techno Classica Essen. The beginning of the year is as always a real feast following a threadbare showing of events at the end of the automotive calendar year.

2018 also saw the completion of our reborn and repackaged Series 3. The 1974 example, capable of offering thunderous performance with its increased engine capacity of 6.1L and smooth grand touring capabilities through numerous bespoke upgrades, maintains the essence of what makes the E-Type an icon within a further developed package. Dubbed Project Zero, the E-Type immediately shot to media fame being picked up by Top Gear, The Times, PistonHeads and Maxim among many others, as well as catching the eye of Alex Goy of YouTube automotive channel Carfection who produced a feature film which currently has over 330,000 views.

Fast forward to the concours season and our Pebble Beach participation proved extremely fruitful for us at both E-Type UK and DM Historics. Kicking off in August, we were Stateside with two cars, our beautiful restored Series 1 3.8 E-Type which performed faultlessly from Seattle to Pebble Beach and our stunning original Jaguar XK120 FHC. After arriving at Pebble Beach we swapped cars and jumped into the time-warp XK120 to take to the famous lawn, showing the car in the Preservation Class at world’s most famous concours.

The Concours season was rounded out with no less than three cars at the Warren, where we managed to scoop the top prize in the Jaguar class with our fully restored 1961 Jaguar E-type Series 1 3.8 External Bonnet Locker.

Looking to the market, the year has been a good one for E-Types, with the Classic Car Auction Yearbook reporting a growth in prices and RM Sothebys selling an OBL FHC in Monterey for an astonishing $650,000, some 30% above bottom estimate.

We are excited about future plans and look forward to another incredible year!
