The US was Jaguar’s leading market for the E-Type; therefore when the US introduced certain safety legislations for 1969, Jaguar were forced to redesign specific parts of the E-Type and the Series 2 was born. Open headlights, redesigned rear end and a larger grille were just some of the new features, the Series 2 began production in late 1968.
This Series 2 is a later example, manufactured on 12th February 1970 and dispatched to British Leyland, New York on 23rd February. The car was imported back to the UK in mid-2012 and entered its 2nd UK-owner’s hands in early-2017. Originally finished in Willow Green with Cinnamon hide and Black hood, this OTS retains its original 4.2 XK engine and 4-speed synchro gearbox meaning it is a fully matching numbers example.
Once imported back to the UK, the owner set about having the car fully restored by an independent Jaguar specialist. It was stripped back to a bare metal shell and rebuilt over a period of three years from 2013-2016. This means today the car is presented in stunning condition; especially after having completed only a few hundred miles since restoration. The owner chose his favourite combination of Carmen Red with Black hide and hood to complete this E-Type to. We think this was a very good choice as you no longer see many E-Types finished to a high-standard in Carmen Red.
The car comes with two very large files, one includes photos of the whole restoration process; whereas the other contains hundreds of parts and labour invoices from the restoration, as well as the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This E-Type was not only restored, but converted to UK-specification, meaning it now has much more powerful triple SU carburettors with no smog equipment and is of course, right hand drive. This iconic classic is brilliant to drive as the original UK-specification cars usually are, and is a sure-fire investment for the future.
This E-Type must be seen in person to be fully appreciated, if you would like to arrange a viewing please get into contact with us. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01732 852 762.
