MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...
Another unique opportunity offered by E-Type UK is this 1967 4.2 Roadster restoration project. A highly desirable original left-hand drive and 3 owner example, originally finished in British Racing Green over Suede Green trim. This original California Black Plate Roadster is presented today as a blank canvas, waiting to begin its own E-type story.
Leaving the production line 13th July 1967 and supplied to Charles Homburg Jaguar, L.A California the same year, the E-type entered its first ownership to the Rudolph family. Purchased as a present for the Rudolph’s daughter as she left for college, the E-type was used for a few years before Miss Rudolph met her partner and became pregnant. Following this news, the decision was made to store the car in what is believed to be 1968/1969 with just 19,000 miles on the clock. Following the birth, the car remained in storage untouched, however, the Rudolph’s continued to pay its registration.
After nearly half a century in storage, the second owner, a one M.Gartner, acquired the E-type as a non-running example in 2015 from the Rudolph family, with goals set on restoring the car and getting this desirable original and full matching find back on the road. Following achieving some notable milestones in its early days of restoration, which included freeing up the seized engine, replacing/refurbishing worn components, supplying the car for paint and trim, the owner left the country for work for 2 years. During this time the project had stalled due to supplier complications. Following Gartner’s return and new career commitments, the owner decided to halt the project and sell the example through a local classic car dealer.
Purchased by the current and third recorded owner in 2020, the E-type was set for full restoration at the hands of E-Type UK. Arriving at E-Type UK as a complete and running Roadster, the restoration began in April 2021, starting with a full shell strip, with parts safely stored, and with the shell and panels media blasted, most recently the E-type has been finished with an epoxy rust prevention sealer.
The E-type is offered to the market today following a loss of interest in the project by the current owner. Supplied with a comprehensive photographic record from its time in California 2020, original tools in roll, Jack in bag, handbook and radio operation manual, the E-type is also sold with all original parts including the fully built up and un-blasted bonnet and upgraded engine picture frame.
E-Type UK also has a detailed photographic record of the restoration project to date and is pleased to offer the E-type as either a direct purchase or donor vehicle for a full nut and bolt undertaken by the specialists at E-Type UK.
