A restored early 1962 Series 1 3.8 roadster, an original left-hand-drive example, finished in factory-correct Opalescent Dark Blue with Beige interior and Blue mohair hood. Treated to a gradual restoration completed in Summer 2019 and ready to be enjoyed.

This now restored original left-hand-drive example was delivered and sold through Jaguar Cars, New York in June 1962, via personal export for the first owner Dr W Herman, later registered the car 30 days later. During some 50+ years spent in the states, the E-type travelled to the sunny climate of The Golden State and was issued with a documented California Registration Number 621 HZA.

Jump forward to 2014 and the UK import of this roadster, actioned by E-Type UK. During its time across the pond, the E-type has been colour changed and finished in a matching Red on Red combination. Later sold to a Surrey-based dealer who, in December 2015, sold the car to the current custodian and began extensive four-year restoration.

Ensuring to leave no stone unturned the E-type was stripped, blasted and primed revealing the full extent of 50 years of corrosion and heavy road use. With the problematic corrosion spanning across the entire floor section (front and boot), boot lid, door skins, inner and outer sills, these where the first areas to be replaced with industry-trusted remanufactured sections, highlighted to the retained restoration invoice portfolio.

With metalwork completed it was time to treat the E-type to full respray, taking this opportunity to install some heritage to this example, finishing the shell in a period-correct Opalescent Dark Blue, as per the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Rolling out of the paint booth September 2018, the E-type was ready to be rebuilt and returned to the road.

Whilst the car began its return to that iconic Series 1 Roadster shape, fitted with re-platted exterior brightwork, the original matching numbers 3.8L engine was restored fitting new liners, pistons, bearings and clutch assembly. Coupled with professionally restored Dynamo and starter motor, the E-type was also subjected to several performance upgrades such as:

• Torsion bar adjusters
• Rear crankshaft seal
• Aluminium radiator
• Kenlowe fan
• Stainless steel sports exhaust
• Quick-release steering wheel
• LED bulbs
• SS easy clean wire wheels.

Summer 2019 saw the freshly trimmed factory-correct Beige interior fitted alongside a Blue mohair hood. Boasting a period-correct Aluminium centre console and dash, the E-type presents a fine and desirable 3.8 roadster example now available in today’s market.
