MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...
Rolling off the production line in October 1961, this original LHD Coupe hopped across the pond, finally being sold via a Texas Jaguar approved dealer in November the same year. Delivered new, finished in Opalescent Dark Blue and Dark Blue trim, this first-year production Coupe continues to boast countless 1961 features that make this example a great investment opportunity, retaining its original bonnet, welded-in louvres, early rear flat bulkhead, 4-speed moss box and of course flat floors.
Understood to have spent most of its life states side, the believed to be full matching numbers E-type, returned home in what is understood to be 2015, imported by a Bedfordshire Jaguar XK specialists. As documented by a passed UK MOT certificate in September that year, the example had yet to be UK registered, stating the country of registration to be “Non EU”.
A year later, the E-type documented its second MOT pass, but this time highlighted its success in UK registration, now assigned a registration number, which the E-type retains today. It was also in 2016 that the E-type arrived into its current ownership. Across the last 5 years, the current custodian continued to ensure the E-type was kept to a good running standard, whilst also undertaking some projects, one of which included a steering conversion from LHD to RHD, making this desirable flat floor coupe a more comfortable UK driver.
Today the car be found in our showroom wearing its heritage correct Opalescent Dark Blue, with an updated Black interior, believed to have been completed during a stateside restoration, which unfortunately was not documented. Due to the micro-blistering across the body and pitted exterior brightwork, we believe the restoration to have been completed 1980's. The Coupes interior presents fabulously, combining well looked after Black trim with the centre console, dash and gauges boasting charming patina.
Following recent servicing and works by E-Type UK, totalling just short of £10,000 across the last 6 months, we can report the mechanicals to be in good running order, therefore offering an unmissable investment opportunity to purchase a first-year production British icon.
