MORE ABOUT THIS CLASSIC...

A beautifully original, matching numbers and UK right-hand drive 1962 Coupe, offering a stunning opportunity to purchase an early classic that has been meticulously maintained throughout its life and boasts countless desirable original features - a true enthusiast's dream.

Leaving the production line 1962, this Series 1 was delivered to G.M.W Motor Works of Wrexham, Wales. Highlighted by an accompanying copy of the original Buff Logbook, the Coupe entered into several brief ownerships, arriving to its third owner, Mr Williams of Surrey in 1964. For the next decade, Williams continued to regularly service and maintain the E-type, retaining numerous works and parts invoices, helping to track this fabulous example’s early history.

The mid 70’s saw the E-type change hands to its fourth owner, a one Mr Baker of Newbury, Berkshire, who continued to add to the detailed history of the Jaguar, which included documenting minor bodywork repairs and purchase of new carpets.

May 1983 welcomed a new owner, one who had the task of restoring this up-and-coming classic. Starting the project the following summer, Mr Townsin, commissioned a Hampshire Classic Car specialist to return the Coupe to a safe and strong road-going standard. The car was treated to repairs to the rear arches, quarter valances, floors, bonnet, door frames and sills. Completing the restoration with a full paint strip and respray to period-correct Old English White. Following several years of enjoyment, Mr Townsin made the tough decision to sell the E-type, however this sale, completed in Spring 1989, saw the E-type enter into its sixth and longest ownership.

Changing hands to a Mr Lyn, the e-type entered its ownership of more than 30 years, and following closely in the footsteps of the previous enthusiast custodians, consistently servicing and maintaining the E-type, further building the cars extensive and detailed history portfolio.

During its time with Mr Lyn, the E-type has been gently returned to beautifully original running condition, with works highlights including a full engine and gearbox overhaul in 1994 and new sills, interior trim excluding headliner, new chrome and fully respray in 2010.

Today the E-type enters the market a full matching numbers and charming patinaed example, boasting numerous original and early 3.8 E-type features, that include:

  • Original 3.8 Marston Radiator
  • Original bonnet and hinges
  • Period correct wiper motor
  • Skinny heater box securing mesh ring
  • 8 top wishbones
  • Period correct carburettor tops
  • Air plenum wing nuts
  • Rare early flat interior bulkhead
  • Original seat runners
  • Early grab handles
  • Original poker dot aluminium centre console and dash fascia
  • Early tailgate hinges

As a result of continuous care through its 6 previous owners and rebuild work, the E-type is seen in our showroom today in fabulous and original condition, with bodywork and paint displaying minor blemishes and the fully rebuilt 3.8 and moss gearbox performance brilliantly, offering an exceptional representation of true 1960’s engineering.

Sold by E-Type UK to its current owner in 2020, the E-type has been used sparingly and only dry stored since purchase. Unfortunately due to a change of circumstances, the E-type returns to the classic car market for sale.
