MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...
This highly desirable classic, believed to be the first 3.8 RHD OTS produced in 1962, as supported by the Jaguar Heritage Trust, rolled off the production line 2nd January, delivered and sold via Parkgate Garage, Coventry to a J. Gaul, London.
An original home market right-hand drive Roadster arriving in its current ownership in 2015, the E-type immediately began a full nut and bolt restoration by well-known Shropshire Jaguar specialists. Beginning its transformation with a full component strip leaving just a bare metal shell, next replacing and repairing deteriorated panels, which included front and rear bulkheads, period-correct flat floor sections, boot floor, gearbox tunnel and inner and outer sill. To conclude the bodywork stage the E-type was finished in its heritage correct Carmen Red.
Continuing to match the level of finish provided during the bodywork restoration, all mechanical components were refurbished or replaced with originality as the focus. Fully rebuilding the original SU carbs and finishing the engine head in an early styled Pumpkin Orange. While ensuring the E-type didn’t lose its heritage, the project also targeted creating a high useable example, therefore the original 3.8L XK engine was completed to a fast road specification and paired with a desirable 5-speed gearbox, with the original 4-speed moss box was restored and dry stored. Other sought-after upgrades fitted include:
- Original Marston styled Hi-Flow aluminium radiator
- Uprated antiroll bar
- Kenlow electric fan
- Stainless steel exhaust system
- 15” Competition chrome wire wheels
To finish the restoration the E-type was finished with a luscious and heritage correct Black hide, Black mohair hood and period-correct Polka dot aluminium centre console and dash fascia.
Today the E-type is presented exceptionally, having been meticulously cared for and covering a little under 1,000 miles since its restoration. An unmissable opportunity to purchase an early flat floor roadster that offers a fantastic blend of originality, performance and useability, a result of its responsive fast road engine and precise selection of its 5-speed gearbox.
