MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...

Another fine example joins the showroom, a 1971 Series 3 2+2 full matching numbers original right-hand drive. A desirable and genuine example with just 4 recorded previous owners, 33,000 original miles on the clock and finished in a heritage correct Old English White.

A beautifully presented V12 example, manufactured in September 1971 and later dispatched to Henlys Limited, London a month later. The new year saw the sale of the E-type via authorised dealer Dennis Bailey and Sons Ltd of Hertfordshire, sold to its first owner Mr Hilton James and UK registered, which the E-type retains today.

Part of the cars extensive history file includes a dealer welcome pack and original British Leyland Jaguar Service Passport, with recorded servicing stamps up until October 1994, supporting the genuine low mileage of this 2+2 example. The passport also highlights the example received little to no use between ‘74-’77, under the ownership of Mr James.

Following what appears to be a preservation ownership, the E-type changed hands in June 1978 to a Mr Bayliss of Bristol, who at the time was a former Concord aircraft engineer. Entering into its longest ownership of 18 years, Mr Bayliss started a meticulous maintenance programme to ensure the Series 3 was kept in perfect running condition. This extensive maintenance was inherited by the next owner when the E-type was sold to a Mr Taylor in 1996, another former Concord aircraft engineer.

After a short stay with Mr Taylor, the E-type began ownership with a Mr Adams in 2001, the 4th custodian, lasting 17 years. During this time, Adams continued the tradition that Mr Bayliss started, continuing to regularly maintain and care for the E-type, seeing in 2010 all-new Black interior trim fitted, featuring full carpets, headliner, door panels, headrests and seat covers and foams to name a few items. The mechanicals received similar attention seeing the example retreated with clear waxoyl, full detailing of the rear axle and engine bay, the project was completed in 2016 with re-chromed front bumpers and grille.

It was at this time, the V12 E-type was fitted with a selection of subtle yet desirable upgrades that include:

  • Stainless steel exhaust system.
  • Chrome wire wheels.
  • SPAX shock absorbers (front and rear).
  • Double SU electric fuel pump.

2018 saw the Series 3 change hands to the current custodian, who later brought the car to E-Type UK. The 2+2 V12 has since been regularly maintained and serviced by E-Type UK with no expense spared, undertaking several projects to keep the car in optimum running condition, with over £10,000 spent across the last 2 years. Today the E-type remains in brilliant condition and enters the market offer a unique opportunity to purchase a genuine low owner and milage 1970’s classic, with accompanying extensive and well-documented history.
