About E-Type UK

At E-Type UK, our work is guided by a simple principle: every decision should serve the car, the owner, and the long-term integrity of both.

We approach every Jaguar E-Type as an engineering project first, not a cosmetic exercise. That means understanding condition before committing to scope, prioritising work that genuinely matters, and being clear with owners about what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what it will cost. We believe the best restorations, upgrades and maintenance outcomes come from clarity at the outset — not surprises later.

Through years of specialist stewardship, we’ve seen that E-Types rarely fail suddenly. Instead, mechanical systems and assemblies gradually move out of tolerance. Cooling efficiency reduces, electrical loads increase beyond original design, suspension and braking lose precision, and small compromises quietly accumulate. Left unchecked, those issues become expensive. Our role is to arrest that drift through careful assessment, disciplined workmanship, and honest communication.

Whether we are carrying out a full E-Type restoration, a targeted upgrade, or ongoing maintenance and ownership support, the way we work is as important as the work itself. The sections below explain our approach, the standards we build to, and how we support owners over the long term.

OUR APPROACH | ASSESSMENT & JUDGEMENT

Every Jaguar E-Type that enters our workshop is treated as an engineering project, not a cosmetic exercise.

Our approach begins with understanding condition before committing to scope. We inspect first, identify what genuinely matters, and prioritise work that improves reliability, drivability and long-term integrity. Only then do we recommend a course of action, explain the reasoning behind it, and agree the scope before work begins.

We don’t believe in vague promises or open-ended projects. Estimates are prepared to reflect the work required to achieve the standard discussed, and any material issues uncovered once work is underway are raised and agreed before progressing further. This ensures owners remain in control of decisions and costs at every stage.

Whether the work involves restoration, upgrades or ongoing maintenance, our aim is the same: clarity at the outset, disciplined execution, and no surprises later. That approach protects the car, the owner, and the long-term relationship.

OUR STANDARDS | WORKMANSHIP & PRECISION

Every Jaguar E-Type we work on is held to a clear and consistent standard, regardless of the scope of work.

That standard is not defined by how a car looks when it leaves the workshop, but by how it performs, how it lasts, and how confidently we are prepared to stand behind the work. Mechanical components and assemblies are rebuilt, set up and tested to ensure they operate as intended — not simply to meet a visual brief.

We believe a properly prepared E-Type should be capable of sitting under the lights at a concours event and then being driven hard and reliably on the road. That balance between presentation, engineering integrity and real-world usability underpins everything we do — a philosophy we refer to as The Geneva Principle. (link)

Our workmanship is disciplined and repeatable. Work is documented, checked and signed off, and cars are road-tested before completion. If a result cannot be achieved to the standard we are prepared to attach our name to, we will say so — and we will not compromise to reach a lower bar.

CLARITY & CONTROL

Clear communication and disciplined control sit at the heart of how we work.

Before any significant work begins, we take the time to explain our recommendations, outline the proposed scope, and provide a clear estimate based on the condition of the car as presented. That estimate reflects the work required to achieve the agreed standard — not an optimistic best case.

Classic cars can reveal additional issues once work is underway. Where that happens, we pause, explain what we have found, and discuss the options before proceeding further. No additional work is carried out without agreement, and owners remain in control of decisions and costs at every stage.

Throughout restoration, upgrade and maintenance work, progress is documented and communicated clearly. Our aim is simple: no surprises, no assumptions, and no loss of control — for either the owner or the car.

OWNERSHIP SUPPORT | LONGEVITY & CONTINUITY

Our relationship with an E-Type owner doesn’t end when a car leaves the workshop.

We provide ongoing Jaguar E-Type maintenance and ownership support, helping owners look after their cars properly over time rather than reacting to problems after they occur. Regular servicing, condition-led inspections and staged upgrades allow work to be planned sensibly, costs to be controlled, and the car’s integrity to be preserved.

Many owners choose to improve their cars progressively. Where that’s the case, we help prioritise work in logical phases — addressing reliability, drivability and safety first, before moving on to refinement or performance enhancements. This staged approach avoids unnecessary disruption and ensures each improvement builds on a sound mechanical foundation.

Whether a car is driven regularly or used more selectively, our aim is the same: to keep it reliable, enjoyable and ready to be used as intended, with continuity of care and support over the long term.
