What Did Your E-Type Tell You This Summer?

Summer has a habit of revealing what an E-Type really needs.

Longer journeys, warmer temperatures, heavier traffic and more frequent use can expose the small weaknesses that are easy to overlook during the occasional Sunday drive.

Perhaps the temperature gauge crept higher than you would like in traffic. Maybe the brakes felt less reassuring than they once did, the steering wandered at speed, the gearbox made a long journey harder work, or the engine simply wasn’t as smooth and responsive as you expected.

None of those things necessarily mean your E-Type needs a major restoration.

But they are worth listening to.

The little things become the big things

Owners naturally adapt to their cars.

You learn how much choke it wants. You leave a little more braking distance. You avoid sitting in traffic for too long. You accept a vibration at motorway speeds or a hesitation when pulling away.

Over time, those compromises can start to feel like part of owning an E-Type.

They don’t always have to be.

Modern improvements to cooling, ignition, fuel delivery, braking, suspension and transmissions can dramatically improve the way an E-Type behaves without taking away the character that makes the car special.

Sometimes the answer is even simpler: servicing, adjustment, fault-finding or replacing components that are no longer performing as they should.

Winter gives you the opportunity to put it right

Autumn is the ideal time to think back over the miles covered this summer.

What did you enjoy?

And, perhaps more importantly, what did you find yourself putting up with?

Using the quieter months to investigate those concerns means there is time to properly assess the car, understand what it needs and complete the work before the next driving season begins.

That might mean addressing one irritating fault.

It could mean improving reliability before a planned European tour.

Or it could be the beginning of a wider programme to make the car more comfortable, capable and enjoyable to use.

Start with the way you use your E-Type

At E-Type UK, we don’t believe every car needs the same upgrades.

A car used for relaxed weekend drives has very different requirements from one regularly driven hundreds of miles across Europe.

The starting point is understanding what your E-Type currently does well, where it falls short and what you want from it next.

From there, we can recommend anything from straightforward servicing and fault-finding through to carefully selected upgrades or a more comprehensive transformation.

So, before your E-Type settles in for winter, think back to those summer drives.

If there was anything you noticed, however big or small, now is the time to start the conversation.
