1973 E-TYPE S3 V12 OTS UPGRADE PROJECT CONTINUED...
The E-Type UK E-Type S3 V12 OTS Upgrade Project is now well underway as the images show! Having now received a full engine rebuild going from low compression to high compression, we have also included a five speed gearbox, Jaguar electronic fuel injection, Jaguar performance alternator and sport power steering rack.
Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, E-type enjoyed a production life of thirteen years and went through several design and specification changes covering various generations.
Finally, in April 1971 the jaguar E-Type Series 3 was introduced which featured the new 5.3-litre V12 engine producing 266bhp and had single overhead camshafts per bank. The Jaguar V12 had a top speed of 146mph and accelerated to 60mph in 6.4 seconds. This was the world's only mass-production V12 engine at the time. The V12 engine was designed and developed by both Walter Hassan and Harry Mundy and was originally intended for the would-be Le Mans challenger racer of 1966.
The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 was offered with two production models, the open two-seater and two-plus-two coupé forms. The E-Type OTS model car was also built on the longer wheelbase. Both models were available with four speed manual or automatic gearbox. Interestingly 44 per cent of the Series 3 E-types were automatics. There were 72,529 E-types built of which 15,292 were Series 3 models.
Additional E-Type upgrade work includes new E-Type engine bay frames and full E-Type engine bay repaint. Rebuilt E-Type front suspension and engine bay component detailing.
