E-Type UK at Windsor Castle Concours Of Elegance 2016

WINDSOR CASTLE SHOWCASES THE BEST OF BRITISH

It's a busy time of year in the classic car world, we've only been back from Pebble Beach a couple of weeks and the highlight of the British Summer classic car world is well and truly upon us.

Last week witnessed Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace and the Concourse of Elegance 2016 at Windsor Castle and of course this week there is the not to be missed Goodwood Revival.

The classic car show at Windsor was an interesting event following on from Pebble Beach. Having not been held at Windsor for four years the Concours of Elegance made a spectacular comeback at the weekend and gave us a chance to view a wonderful line-up of cars.

The show’s most prestigious models, included a 1914 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Barker Alpine Eagle and a 1936 Bugatti Roadster, took centre stage in the Quadrangle and more than 100 cars also lined up along a section of The Long Walk.

Of course it was pleasing to see a number of E-types on display and particularly interesting to note Jaguar Heritage selling an original Series 3 with only 13,000 miles on the clock with all its original patina for £100k.

There were also a number of other E-types on show not least 9600 HP, the earliest fixed head coupe ever made. Other E-types on display included Martin Brundle's FHC and of course the 1963 ex-Roy Salvadori lightweight E-type.

It was our first visit to the show and while very different from Pebble Beach we were immensely impressed by the quality of cars immaculately displayed on the Windsor lawn.

Who knows, next year we may even have the chance to speak to the queen!
