Piston Heads | Glorious 'Speedster'
Piston Heads spot one of our latest bespoke build restorations, dubbing it a "Glorious Speedster"! A one-of-a-kind, roofless reimagining of an early Jaguar E-Type Series 1, meticulously crafted over 3,500 hours. The bodywork has been refined with deseamed bonnet and boot panels, removal of chrome elements, and electronic door releases for a cleaner, more contemporary look. Finished in Opalescent Gunmetal, the paintwork alone took 400 hours to perfect, while new headlight covers and subtle modern touches enhance its sleek design.
Under the bonnet, the original straight-six engine has been rebuilt to "fast road" specifications, featuring high-lift camshafts, a ported cylinder head, a balanced crankshaft, and a lighter flywheel for improved performance. A new five-speed manual gearbox has been installed for better drivability, ensuring the car retains its classic charm while offering a more engaging and refined driving experience. Inside, the cabin is upholstered in striking red quilted leather, providing a luxurious contrast to the exterior. Thoughtful custom touches include a removable padded section behind the seats, designed specifically for the owner’s pets. This bespoke restoration blends classic E-Type elegance with modern performance and comfort, making it a unique and highly personal tribute to Jaguar’s iconic sports car.
