MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...

Another exceptional example of one of the world’s most iconic British sports cars joins the E-Type UK showroom. A stunning Series 1 3.8, one of the last S1 examples to be finished in left-hand drive built that year. A fully restored, matching numbers and original specification Series 1 Coupe, today returned to its factory-correct colour scheme of Opalescent Silver Grey and Black leather.

Starting its life late December 1963, Christmas eve nevertheless, this outstanding example was exported to Jaguar Cars, New York, finished in left-hand drive with an elegant Opalescent Silver Grey and Black trim finish. It is believed that this iconic 60’s classic went to lead a cherished life in the beautiful Californian climate once entering its first ownership to a E.A Roberts of Ojai, as highlighted in the accompanying Jaguar Heritage certificate.

While the E-types overseas years have not been recorded, the real story begins in 2016, following the Coupes return to its country of production. The Series 1 entered into a full nut and bolt, no expense spared restoration by a Yorkshire Classic Car specialist, with the sights set on returning the LHD example to original specification.

Understanding the importance of perfection, the E-type underwent a full bare metal restoration, undoing over 50 years of wear and tear, repairing and replacing panels with invoicing totalling over £23,000. Now working from a solid shell, all existing components and instruments were professionally recommissioned by specialists, replacing unsalvageable parts with sourced original replacements, ensuring to retain the authenticity of such a memorable classic.

Taking advantage of its current state, the owner decided to improve on Jaguar’s magic formula by bringing the E-type’s drivability and reliability up to modern-day standards, while mindful not to overshadow those elements that make a true Jaguar E-type. Subtle upgrades include fitting uprated cooling to feature an aluminium radiator and header tank and undertaking a Dynamo to Alternator conversion, all allowing the E-type to keep up with modern-day traffic.

Completing its restoration late 2019, the E-type is accompanied by a packed document file of works and parts invoicing, as well as a photographic restoration file, highlighting the full extent of this E-type transformation. Since completing its build the Coupe has been used sparingly, covering less than 200 miles since, only ever dried stored therefore is seen today in box-fresh condition.

Presented from our showroom today in immaculate condition as a result of its recent high-level restoration and on-going meticulous maintenance. With its returned to original specification paintwork of Opalescent Silver Grey holding its spotless shine, the E-type features stunning brightwork free from traditional signs of road wear and tear. The story remains the same when looking at the interior, the recently retrimmed Black interior is in fabulous condition with all leathers, sills and carpets unmarked and instruments in fully functional order.

A result of its full transformation, all running gears and mechanicals of the E-type offer faultless performance and a fantastic driver experience. Starting immediately on the button, the fully restored and original 3.8L straight-six bursts into life and is handled seamlessly by the factory original 4-speed manual moss box, creating a genuine 1960’s sports car driving environment.
