Leaving the production line in March 1965, this original UK home market Coupe was quickly snapped up and sold via Henly London less than a month later. While the earlier years of the E-type’s life haven’t been recorded, Coupe logged ownership starting in 1994 to a Mrs Jacques of Rochford, Essex, becoming the E-type’s longest recorded custodian of 16 years.

In 2010 the E-type was acquired by E-Type U.K. and prepared for sale. Landing on the showroom doorstep in great running condition, it was clear the Coupe had led a long and treasured life, with previous owners taking great care in preserving the car. While in highly acceptable condition, it was decided to refresh the examples original Carmen Red finish prior to sale.

During this time, the current owner of the E-type, a budding classic Jaguar enthusiast at the time, reached out to E-Type U.K. on the hunt for a highly useable Series 1 Coupe. As fate had it, the recently acquired Coupe met all his requirements. Agreeing on a sale before officially re-entering the market, the current owner decided to take advantage of the paintwork refresh project to also tidy up ageing areas such as the engine bay, mechanicals and trim.

Kicking off the first of many E-Type U.K. projects, the E-type began a full engine bay reconditioning and detailing, seeing the engine compartment completely stripped, all ancillaries cleaned, new wiring loom installed, rebuilt carburettors, cam covers and engine detailing. Now reconditioned and ready for the road once again, the owner was impressed with the level of quality and work undertaken by E-Type U.K. that the Coupe was returned for regular servicing and maintenance for the following 6 years. It wasn’t until 2016, that the owner decided to was time to fully renew the E-type, giving it a much-deserved nut and bolt restoration.
