The casing is produced from aerospace-grade cast aluminium, housing helical-cut gears and synchromesh on all five ratios. The unit is strong, durable and capable of handling high-output E-Type engines while remaining refined at low speeds.

Crucially, the upgrade is a direct replacement for your existing gearbox. No cutting or fabrication is required, and the installation is entirely reversible — an important consideration for owners who value originality or matching-numbers integrity. Wherever possible, your existing clutch, hydraulics and ancillary components are retained to preserve authenticity.

OUR INSTALLATION PROCESS

With this being one of the most frequently fitted upgrades at E-Type UK, our team has a well-honed process. After removing the original gearbox, we carry out a detailed inspection of the surrounding components — including the clutch assembly, master and slave cylinders, bearings and coolant and hydraulic hoses — to ensure everything is in the correct condition to support the upgrade.

Once the new gearbox is installed, we set up the driveline, road-test the vehicle and fine-tune the shift feel. The goal is always the same: an E-Type that drives more smoothly, performs more confidently and still feels unmistakably authentic.
