Cooling Upgrades
Performance Cooling, Without Compromise
Overheating is one of the most common concerns E-Type owners raise, not necessarily because the car is being driven hard, but because modern traffic, warmer climates and longer journeys place very different demands on a cooling system designed in the 1960s.
Cooling upgrades are not simply about fitting larger components. Effective cooling comes from how the entire system works together, and how the car is actually used.
DRIVING EXPERIENCE
A properly sorted cooling system changes the confidence you have in the car.
Instead of constantly watching the temperature gauge in traffic or avoiding warmer days altogether, the car becomes more predictable and more usable in real-world conditions.
The aim is not to make the E-Type run artificially cold, but to maintain stable operating temperatures without stress, inconsistency or compromise.
ENGINEERING
Through decades of hands-on experience, we have identified where the original E-Type cooling system is most commonly compromised and where carefully judged improvements deliver meaningful gains.
Our cooling packages may include uprated aluminium radiators, higher-efficiency fan systems, revised header tanks and improved wiring or thermostat control, depending on the car’s specification and intended use.
Where relevant, we also account for additional demands such as fuel injection, air conditioning or extended touring use, ensuring the cooling system supports the car as a complete package rather than as an isolated upgrade.
OUR APPROACH
At E-Type UK, we approach cooling upgrades with restraint and understanding rather than assumptions.
Rather than supplying off-the-shelf parts in isolation, we develop integrated systems designed to work cohesively within the car. Installation, airflow management, hose routing, electrical load and supporting components are all considered as part of the process.
Every E-Type is different, and the correct solution depends heavily on specification, condition and how the owner intends to use the car.
THE INVESTMENT
Typical investment: £3,500 – £5,000 (including VAT)
- Includes radiator, fan system and installation
- Scope varies depending on the condition of the existing system
- Final cost confirmed after inspection
The result is an E-Type that maintains temperature more consistently, performs more confidently in modern conditions and becomes significantly more usable for regular driving.
For owners looking to tour further, drive more frequently or simply remove uncertainty from the ownership experience, cooling upgrades are often one of the most worthwhile improvements available.
If you’d like to discuss whether a cooling upgrade would benefit your E-Type — or how it should be considered alongside other work — we’re always happy to talk it through.
