Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance | Coastal Cruising

Coastal Cruising

Following our tremendously enjoyable 1,500-mile drive from Seattle to California on the Motoring Classic Rally, we arrived in the picturesque Californian Peach Beach, ready to kick off the Monterey automotive week with the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance 2018.

While Tour isn’t compulsory for entrants, being able to witness some of the earliest cars from Pebble Beach strut their stuff remains a pleasure. With our sister company, DM Historics’ Pebble Beach entrant, a stunning 1953 original Jaguar XK120 fixed head coupe and our Series 1 3.8 Roadster ready and set on the start line alongside 300+ other jaw-dropping classics the Tour was underway.

Setting off from Pebble Beach, after coffee, doughnuts and fine conversation, the first stop was the Tehama Monterra property, before taking in the iconic Highway 1 and turning back to return to Carmel – a chance to pass the astonishing procession of classic machines once again!

The slinky silhouette of the E-Type captivated throughout the coastal drive, despite the truly sensational company of world-class vehicles the likes of which you would only see at Pebble Beach.

In a rally where a prototype Ford GT40 Roadster seems somewhat run of the mill, where unique coach-built wonders hug the curves of stunning Californian coastline and spectators travel from across the world to visit the spectacle, seeing our British beauty among such fine company and taking in yet more exceptional roads was truly a sight to behold.
