Jaw Dropping Speedster
Jaw Dropping Speedster
The "Jaw Dropping Speedster" is a bespoke Jaguar E-Type build, developed as a purpose-led commission rather than a conventional restoration.
Starting with a highly original flat-floor E-Type roadster, the brief was not to return the car to factory specification, nor to create a predefined restomod. Instead, the ambition was to shape a custom E-Type commission that felt lighter, more focused and more resolved — a car defined by intent rather than excess.
Every decision throughout the build was guided by how the car was meant to be driven, balancing authenticity, mechanical integrity and driver engagement. The result is a bespoke E-Type that sits clearly between restoration and Unleashed: individual, considered and quietly assertive.
Beneath the surface
Structural assessment and metalwork in a bespoke Jaguar E-Type build
Every bespoke Jaguar E-Type begins with restraint.
Before any specification decisions are made, the shell is stripped and assessed in full, allowing clarity around what should be preserved and what genuinely requires correction. This process establishes the foundation for the entire bespoke build.
In this commission, originality was a priority. Key original features — including the welded-in bonnet louvres — were retained to anchor the car in its period character. Structural corrections were then carried out discreetly, focusing on alignment, accuracy and long-term integrity rather than visual reinvention.
This disciplined approach ensures the bespoke E-Type is built on a foundation that is mechanically honest and structurally correct.
STRUCTURAL DECISIONS
Chassis integrity and body structure in a custom E-Type commission
Structural work on the "Jaw Dropping Speedster" was guided by a single principle: nothing added without purpose.
Floor sections, sills and key structural panels were rebuilt where required to restore strength, rigidity and longevity, while preserving the original geometry and proportions of the E-Type. Rather than following a checklist, each intervention was judged against how it would affect balance, composure and feel on the road.
This stage defines the character of a bespoke Jaguar E-Type more than any visible detail. It is where judgement replaces specification, and where the car’s eventual confidence is quietly established.
MECHANICAL INTENT
Engine, drivetrain and dynamics in a bespoke Jaguar E-Type build
Mechanical specification in a bespoke E-Type build is dictated by outcome, not numbers.
For the Speedster, the engine, drivetrain and supporting systems were developed as an integrated whole rather than a series of standalone upgrades. Cooling, braking, suspension and steering were all considered together to ensure consistency in character and response.
The aim was to create a custom Jaguar E-Type that feels predictable, confidence-inspiring and genuinely usable — mechanically resolved rather than over-stated. Nothing here exists to impress on paper; everything exists to work cohesively on the road.
INTERIOR & ERGONOMIC CHOICES
Cabin design and usability in a bespoke E-Type commission
In a bespoke E-Type interior, environment matters more than decoration.
Materials, colours and finishes were selected to support the character of the car, not dominate it. Diamond-stitched leather, tailored seating and subtle detailing elevate the cabin while preserving the clarity and simplicity that define the original E-Type interior.
Modern enhancements were integrated discreetly where they improved usability and comfort, ensuring the finished bespoke Jaguar E-Type feels purposeful, considered and appropriate for real-world use.
A RESOLVED BESPOKE COMMISSION
What bespoke means at E-Type UK
The "Jaw Dropping Speedster" is not a prototype and not a statement piece. It is a finished bespoke Jaguar E-Type commission, confident in its purpose and cohesive in its execution.
This is what bespoke means at E-Type UK: understanding where deviation enhances the car, where it detracts, and applying judgement at every stage to arrive at something that feels inevitable rather than designed. If you’re happy with the direction, I think this becomes the template for how we handle bespoke case studies going forward — same content weight, but a different narrative frame to Restoration and Unleashed.
