Electrical reliability is one of the quiet foundations of a usable E-Type. Weak charging, dim lights at idle or hesitant starting rarely announce themselves dramatically — but they steadily undermine confidence, particularly in traffic or on longer journeys.
At E-Type UK, our approach to alternator and starter upgrades is focused on reliability, consistency and restraint. The aim is not to modernise the engine bay, but to ensure the electrical system performs predictably under modern demands while retaining the original look and feel of the car.
Our alternator upgrade replaces the original unit with a compact, lightweight alternator paired with carefully adapted wiring to integrate cleanly with the existing system. Available in outputs suited to standard or higher electrical loads, it provides stable charging at low engine speeds and supports modern requirements such as improved lighting, cooling fans or air conditioning.
The upgrade is complemented by a modern high-torque starter motor, significantly more powerful than the original unit and drawing less current from the battery. Cold starts become easier, hot starts more reliable, and strain on the wider electrical system is reduced.
