MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...

Another exceptional example of one of the worlds most iconic British sports cars joins the E-Type UK showroom. A stunning Series 1 4.2, one of the last S1 examples to be finished in left-hand drive and to leave the Browns Lane factory in December 1966. A fully restored and matching numbers E-type that is presented in Jaguar Heritage correct Black over Black.

Starting its life on 7th December 1966, this outstanding example was exported to Jaguar Cars, New York, finished in left-hand drive with an elegant all-black specification. It is understood that this iconic 60’s classic went to lead a cherished life in the beautiful Californian climate once entering its first ownership to VIP Car Leasing', Santa Monica, as highlighted in the accompanying Jaguar Heritage certificate.

2010 saw the E-type imported from the states by a Mr Adams, who proceeded to commission a full nut and bolt restoration, returning this black beauty to better than factory condition, maintaining a consistent level of detail and high-quality finish every step of the way. Within 2 years this matching numbers roadster was returned to the road in immaculate condition featuring a hand full of ‘bolt-on’ upgrades to match the E-types driving experience with its outstanding aesthetic. Upgrades include:

  • 6 branch stainless steel manifold and sports exhaust system
  • Cross-laced competition chrome wire wheels
  • AP four-pot callipers
  • Adjustable shock absorbers
  • Polybushed steering rack mounts
  • Uprated torsion bars

During its restoration, the original 4.2 XK engine was given a healthy performance treatment which saw the 4.2 engine fitted with injection camshafts, ported and polished head, compression ratio raised to 10 to 1, triple re-needled SU carburettors, Aldon electronic igniter ignition, silicone leads and Lucas gold ignition coil. With such extensive work completed the E-type now offers exceptional performance once paired with its fully rebuilt 4 speed-gearbox and uprated back end featuring: adjustable shock absorbers, Eisbach uprated road spring, heavy duty radius arm bush kit, polybushed anti-roll bar, Girling Series III callipers and Mintex 1144 brake pads. Being a true classic car enthusiast, Mr Adams kept a comprehensive history file documenting the completed works and parts, which is still present with the car today.

Since acquiring the vehicle in Summer 2013 the current owner has kept the roadster consistently maintained and serviced, only storing the E-type in a dehumidified storage unit, making this Jaguar a rare and desirable find in today’s market.

Presented today in a stunning condition of black over black and as a result of countless careful and meticulous ownerships, this Series 1 roadster is an eye-catching example to enter the market. As you take your place behind the 15” Motolita steering wheel, you’ll be surrounded by exceptionally kept black leather seats, carpets, trim and dash. The dials and instruments follow the same story, all presented in clean condition without any misting. This U.S roadster has also been retrofitted with a modern ‘Pure’ radio and Pioneer sound system, helping to create a comfortable driving environment.

Once fired up the E-type provides a thrilling experience wherever your journey may take you, whether it be navigating winding Kentish B-roads or motorway cruising, this Series 1 roadster, with its upgraded running and performance, has the capability to reliably keep up with the best of modern day traffic.
