The 4.2 litre Jaguar E-type was regarded as the more refined model when compared to the earlier 3.8 cars, and represented the next step as Jaguar looked to capitalise on the early success of the E-Type. The 4.2 litre engine was installed initially to make the E-type more desirable to the American market although the engine wasn’t the only with a more luxurious interior installed. The 4.2 Jaguar E-type quickly became the most desirable version of the famous Jaguar E-Type due to its increased power and usability while retaining the same outward appearance of the earlier iconic shape.

There is nothing more desirable in the UK market than an original right-hand drive Coupe, like this stunning example, manufactured on the 15th June 1967 and sold through Henlys London less than two weeks later. A mouth-watering example believed to be one of the last right-hand drive fixed heads to leave the factory, originally leaving the factory finished in Cream over Black.

It was in 2016 the E-type started a full nut and bolt restoration to return this icon back to its former glory. Kicking off its no expense spared restoration, the E-type was taken back to bare metal highlighting corrosion requiring immediate attention. The Coupe was fitted with all new floors, inner and outer sills, bulkhead and roof assembly, bringing strength and reliability back this classic. Having started its process in Old English White, the E-type was later finished in an industry appreciated Opalescent Silver Grey. Once all the original fully rebuilt running gears had been installed the E-type was treated with a number of upgrades to create a competitive sports classic. These upgrades include:

  • High torque starter
  • Aluminium radiator
  • Electronic fuel pump
  • Electronic ignition
  • Uprated brakes with vented discs
  • Full stainless steel exhaust system
  • Triple laced chrome competition wire wheels

The interior was finished to the highest standard in an elegant contrasting Black, the overall appearance is immaculate and gives the cabin a classic and comfortable feel. The listed upgrades make this a fantastic E-Type that keeps up with today's traffic while still retaining the spirit of classic motoring that all true enthusiast's desire. Since completing its restoration the E-type has only completed a little over 1,000 miles.

1,583 right-drive 4.2 Coupes were built and with only half estimated to have survived these last 50+ years, this E-type is surely a rare and desirable vehicle.
