MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...

Available from the E-Type UK showroom is this eye-catching and restored 1973 Jaguar E-type Series 3 V12 Roadster. A desirable and classic finished example restored by classic Jaguar specialists in the 2000s and today offers a highly drivable British 1970’s sports car.

Rolling off the production line August 1973, finished in Azure Blue and Dark Blue leather, this Roadster was later sold and supplied by period well-known dealer, H.R. Owen Cars, to its first recorded owner, C.R De Havilland, London, as highlighted by its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

Remaining in central England for the majority of its life, recording a number of change of hands to different owners from London and Worcester, the Series 3 Roadster made its way to a Mr Thompson in December 2000. Thompson was a Jaguar fanatic looking to add another expectation example to his growing collection, therefore upon purchase decided to treat the British classic to extensive rebuild.

2001 marked the start of the transformation by a Coventry Jaguar Specialist. Undertaking an exterior and engine bay strip down, taking the shell exterior back to bare metal and reapplying the heritage correct Jaguar Azure Blue. To finish off the new paintwork the E-type welcomed all-new exterior chromes and rubbers. Similar attention was applied to the interior and mechanicals, seeing new seat covers, foams, headrests and door cards in period Dark Blue leather fitted, and undertaking an engine rebuild, completing the project in 2002.

Being a keen Jaguar enthusiast, Mr Thompson kept a well-documented file on the rebuild, retaining countless work estimates, part invoices and photographic evidence of the bodywork, helping to highlight the extent and expense spent on the roadster transformation. Upon completing this timely project, Mr Thompson used the E-type sparingly and later kept the Series 3 as a show example in his private collection for the next 5 years.

It wasn’t until 2007 the E-type was taken from storage, given to another Jaguar specialist and made available for sale. Shortly following being listed the Roadster was snapped up by its next owner, a Mr Muir, Lanarkshire. Part of his purchase, the E-type was treated with an uprated aluminium radiator, oil cooler, Mota-lite sports steering wheel and custom-designed steering rack.

After 3 years of careful ownership, the Series 3 landed into the hands of the current owner. Since this purchase, the E-type has been regularly maintained, MOT’d and has covered less than approx. 6,000 miles since restoration. Having resided in Sunningdale, a Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for the last decade, the E-type is now returned to the market.

Today presented in great condition, the E-type has held true to its extensive rebuild state, featuring minor wear and tear as expected from a restoration of this age. The interior is featured in equally great condition, retaining all around unmarked and clean heritage correct Dark Blue trim. The mechanicals continue to produce that all-important grand tourer V12 power that the industry has come to love about the E-type Series 3.
