- Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe
MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...
Undeniably stylish and widely regarded as one of the most iconic automobiles of all time, the early Series 1 E-type is by far the most desirable of all models. Shown here is an excellent example of an original right-hand drive 1963 Jaguar E-type Series 1 fixed head coupe, finished in Jaguar Dark Blue and red leather. A fully restored and well-known car in the Jaguar Enthusiast community, winning several Club Concours awards and featured across numerous magazine titles.
A true British icon through and through having remained in the UK since first being registered to Hanger Motor Co Ltd, Birmingham in August 1963. This genuine right-hand drive Coupe retains its original Buff Log Book complete with documented owners up to January 1970, also stating the original registration, 858 KOF, which the E-type still holds today. On top of an original registration book, a desirable item for any true collector, this beautiful example also features a comprehensive history folder boasting a consistent historic MOT record, extensive invoices from Jaguar part specialist SNG Barratt Group and a photography portfolio of undertaken work and attended events.
Treated to a full nut and bolt restoration between 1989-1990, which included a refresh of the original Jaguar Dark Blue exterior, this icon was turned into a prize-winning example. September 1990 saw the E-type attend a number of Concours events where it took home 3 major awards from the International E-type Day Concours’ events at Longleat, Warminster, hosted by the Jaguar Drivers’ Club Ltd. The car was presented by a Mr Cunliffe, believed to be the owner at the time, and took home ‘Best in show’ and 1st place in ‘Series 1 3.8’ class.
The E-type later made its way to a Mr Lloyd of Sunderland in July 2007, an excited new owner thrilled to receive the E-type in time for the summer weather. After a year of enjoyment, it was decided to get the mechanicals on par with the rest of the E-types overall condition, therefore a well-established Derbyshire Jaguar restoration specialist was commissioned to rebuild the iconic 3.8 XK engine, alongside fitting several other upgrades, which include:
- 5-speed gearbox (original 4-speed supplied)
- Stainless Steel Sports Exhaust
- High torque starter
- Electric ignition
- Uprated Electric Fan
- Brass header tank and high flow radiator
Entering its current ownership in 2014 and presented in its fabulous condition you see today, the Coupe still retains that highly desirable aluminium centre console, originally only found in 1961-63 models. Having been picked up by such titles as Jaguar World, Motoring Classic and Classic Car Buyer, this early Series 1 is a stunning example of what E-Type designer Malcolm Sayer first envisioned for the car.
This 1963 model offers a smooth classic sports car drive through its upgrade 5-speed gearbox, reliable rebuilt 3.8 engine and sits proudly on tripled laced 6” competition wheels. Accompanied by a well-maintained exterior with bodywork displaying minimal road marks and a clean interior displaying a spotless black dash with exceptional gauges and dials.
This E-type offers a rare opportunity to invest in a piece of automotive engineering history. If you’d like to arrange a viewing to see this stunning early Series 1 example, then please contact us on 01732 852 762 or email email@example.com for more details.
