A recently fully restored and matching numbers Series 1 roadster, original left-hand drive and finished in factory correct Opalescent Golden Sand and light tan interior. This 1967 example offers a rare opportunity to own a two previous owner U.S example ready for another lifetime of inspiring future E-type enthusiasts through its original restored specification.

Leaving the production line in April 1967, this roadster was delivered new to Jaguar Cars, New York. Finished as an original left-hand drive car, the E-type was later dispatched to its first owner, a Mr Russell, in June the same year. Remaining in Mr Russell’s ownership for little as 12 months and having covered only 3,194 miles, this icon was purchased by a Mr Kuchinski of Massachusetts in March 1968.

Now entering its longest ownership, the Series 1 was meticulously maintained and cherished until Mr Kuchinski’s passing in 2004, where, in these 36-years, the E-type had only covered 61,897 miles. For the next decade, the E-type laid untouched, kept safely away in storage and it wasn’t until 2016, the E-type was reluctantly sold by Mr Kuchinski’s descendants and shipped back to the UK, where at this time the body colour was recorded as black. Now back in the country of its manufacture, the E-type was to be treated to a full nut and bolt restoration, undertaken by a south Wales specialist.

The current owner, being a purest, directed the assigned restoration team to stay true to the car’s factory specification, refitting as many original parts as possible, even down to restoring its now well-preserved period correct tool kit. During its painstaking restoration, no stone was left unturned, resulting in a full rebuild of the matching numbers 4.2 XK engine, 4-speed gearbox and IRS. Having sorted the mechanicals, the E-type was taken back to bare metal and finished in its Jaguar Heritage correct Opalescent Golden Sand with a freshly retrimmed light tan interior with a black hood, creating one breathtaking example.

As originality was key during its restoration, this roadster boasts a long list of original parts from re-chromed brightwork, period correct brakes and even features a period correct 4.2 single blade cooling fan. Minor and subtle interior upgrades have been fitted to help create a comfortable and modern driving experience which include a hidden Bluetooth phone and sound system.

Since completing its restoration in early 2019, the E-type has lived a sheltered life seeing very little use, covering less than 400 miles since its restoration. The E-type is accompanied by a large history folder documenting its cherished life, just some of these documents include:

  • Jaguar Heritage Certificate
  • Original manufacturer’s warranty
  • Jaguar Cars, New York owners warranty transfer
  • Full invoice documentation of UK restoration.

Today, this original 4.2 Series 1 roadster offers a unique opportunity to experience what it would have been like to receive one of these icon automobiles from new. The re-trimmed and factory correct light tan interior, displaying virtually no signs of usage, provides the driver with a luxurious and comfortable driving environment, as you sit behind the rebuilt and smooth performing 4.2 engine. Through an original 4-speed gearbox this roadster delivers greatly enjoyable classic Jaguar performance and handling - a rare entry to today market.
