MORE ABOUT THIS CAR...

Built in May 1965, this Series 1 4.2L E-type was ordered as a personal export delivery by Ms. M. J. MacLaughlin. A matching numbers Series 1 E-type the car left the factory in Opalescent Silver Grey with a Black interior and Black soft top. Prior to leaving the UK for California, USA, the car was assigned a UK registration of ‘DVC 203C’, which is currently on retention for this E-type.

Remaining in Mrs. M. J. MacLaughlin ownership until her death in 1991, the Jaguar E-type was maintained no matter the cost. With the first invoice for work dated 1966 for a ‘Filter’ and numerous invoices going through the 1970’s and 1980’s. These invoices included general maintenance such as checking alignment, replacing gaskets and checking for excessive leaks.

Clearly Ms. M. J. MacLaughlin wanted to drive the car as it was designed to be, within the first year of ownership covering an impressive 11,472 miles, this rate of usage wasn’t maintained with the E-type having covered 85,933 some 20 years after purchase in 1985. It must have been quite the sight on the Californian coast, as Ms MacLaughlin drove her E-type around. So much so, that in 1983 Ms MacLaughlin met a Mr. G. Snell who wrote her a letter so taken by her Jaguar E-type, that he offered to purchase the car.

Despite the offer of $15,000 Ms. M. J. MacLaughlin was not deterred and continued to use and enjoy her E-type with the final invoice in her name dated 1988 where the E-type had covered 86,788 miles.

It was between this time and 1992 when Ms. M. J. MacLaughlin passed away in 1991 and the car was then in the ownership of Mr M. Brown of Carmel California. Mr. Brown once again was fastidious on his ownership of the car, keeping records of work and also registration documents, which shows him owning the car until 2013.

Purchased by E-Type UK / USA in 2013, the E-type was really in lovely original condition, although the floors had the usual crushed footwells the exterior had stood the test of time. Although upon a more detailed inspection the car needed various ‘minor’ repairs that made a full restoration a more effective route to go.

The E-type was fully stripped down and an exacting restoration commenced to include the following upgrades:

  • Fast Road Specification Engine
  • 5 Speed Gearbox (original retained with the car)
  • High Torque Starter
  • High Output Alternator
  • Electronic Ignition
  • Cooling Package
  • Mild Steel Exhaust

Completing restoration in 2016 and finished in Opalescent Silver Grey with a Dark Blue Trim and Dark Blue soft top. The current owner has maintained the car regardless of cost and always through ourselves at E-Type UK.

This represents a unique opportunity to purchase not only a matching numbers Series 1 Jaguar E-type. This E-type also benefits from a full E-Type UK restoration and has documented provenance from purchase to today. Since its restoration, this classic has covered less than 1,500 miles. The E-type has been built to be enjoyed and driven and allows the new owner to jump in and enjoy the car immediately.

The E-type is available for immediate viewing, with all history present, please contact us on 01732 852 762 or email marcus@etypeuk.com for more information or to arrange an appointment.

Please note the car is currently on a private number, '7 XKE', which can be purchased separately.
